AMH Level Meaning

What is AMH?

Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) is produced by ovarian follicles and is commonly used to estimate ovarian reserve and fertility potential.

AMH Level Interpretation
  • High AMH (>4.0 ng/mL) — Possible PCOS or high ovarian reserve
  • Normal AMH (1.0 – 4.0 ng/mL) — Healthy reproductive reserve
  • Low AMH (0.5 – 1.0 ng/mL) — Reduced ovarian reserve
  • Very Low AMH (<0.5 ng/mL) — Advanced ovarian aging risk

Clinical Meaning

AMH levels decline naturally with age. Low AMH does not completely eliminate pregnancy possibility but may indicate reduced fertility window.

Medical Insight

AMH testing is one component of fertility assessment and should be interpreted alongside ultrasound findings, cycle history, and other hormone tests.
